Provincial A Short Track Championships

The OSSA Technical Committee has released a bulletin with additional information about the format of the Provincial A Championships (February 17-18, 2018 in Newmarket).

Message from Newmarket Club President Diane Simpson:

Families coming to Newmarket for the Provincial A Championships are asked to reserve their hotel rooms as soon as possible.  There is a large Ringette Tournament happening in town on the same weekend and the availability of hotel rooms is very limited.  The Newmarket club is currently holding a small block of rooms (10 in total) at the Best Western Voyageur Place Hotel located at 17575 Yonge Street, Newmarket, which is directly across the street from the Upper Canada Mall.   Rooms are $125.00 plus taxes and some are motel style which means room access is from the outside.  Breakfast is not included in this price however there is a restaurant attached to the hotel called “The Buttery Restaurant”.

Families are asked to contact the hotel directly at 1 (800) 575-0601 to make reservations by referencing “Newmarket Jets Speed Skating Club”.  Room rates will be honored until Friday, February 2nd at a first come, first served basis.

There are two other hotels in town, The Comfort Inn and the Holiday Inn Express.  Both hotels are almost completely sold out for the weekend.  I have been advised that a block of room at the Comfort Inn, currently being blocked by another sport organization, will have until January 17th to confirm their rooms after which time, any rooms not taken will be released.  Families may want to check with the hotel after January 17th to see if any rooms become available at that time.
