Team Ontario Announced for Canadian Age Class Long Track Championships


OSSA is excited to announce the Team Ontario Long Track skaters that will be representing our province at the 2019 Canadian Age Class Long Track Championships in Winnipeg, MB on February 9-10, 2019.

Team Ontario CWG Long Track Team Announced!

OSSA is excited to announce the Team Ontario Long Track skaters that will be representing our province at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta. The team will be at the Games from February 14-23, 2019.

Women:  Sierra Johnson, Lily Weidemann, Alexa Annecca, Rachel Freitag, Claire Mallard (alternate)

Men:  Matthew Laxton, Max Brant, Gibson Himbeault, Noah Bouma, Ian Babulic (alternate)

Anyone wishing to appeal may do so in accordance with OSSA’s appeals policy by January 4, 2019 at 12:00 noon.

Time Based Entries for National Qualifier

Skaters wanting to apply for National Qualifier (February 1-3 in Montreal) with time based entry need to submit their best 500m and 1500m times skated between August 1st 2018 and January 7th, 2019 in an SSC sanctioned event with electronic timing to the OSSA office no later than 11:00am on Monday, January 7th by emailing sportmanager@ontariospeedskating.ca. Submitted times must meet the time standards below.

Please provide accurate times and the event where the times were skated. Pre-qualified skaters do not need to submit their times. Registration and payment is not required unless the athlete qualifies for the event.

Time Standard

Women: 3min 36sec based on combined 500m and 1500m times. (ex: 0:52+2:44)

Men: 3min 14sec based on combined 500m and 1500m times. (ex: 0:46+2:28)

Ontario Provincial Long Track Championships Registration

Registration for the Ontario Long Track Championships is open! The deadline to register is January 2, 2019. Please see the meet announcement for details about registration or visit the Ottawa Pacers online registration page.

This is the primary qualifying meet for the Canadian Age Class Long Track Championships. Other times will only be considered if this meet is unable to be run due to weather. Please see the Long Track Technical Bulletin for more details.
