2018 OWG Athlete List

The list of skaters who have qualified for the 2018 Ontario Winter Games (short track) has been posted at http://ontariospeedskating.ca/ontario-winter-games/ 

The Top 16 athletes in each Group are required to confirm their intent to participate in writing to OSSA (email sportmanager@ontariospeedskating.ca) by 5:00pm January 25, 2018.

NOTE: Entries NOT confirmed by this time will be allocated to the next ranked eligible skater. Alternates will be notified by January 26th.

Upon confirming intent to participate, skaters will be provided with information about registration and accommodations.

The 2018 Ontario Winter Games (short track events) are in Huntsville, Ontario. 

 

  • Thursday, March 1: Check-in and Opening Ceremonies
  • Friday, March 2: Day 1 Racing
  • Saturday, March 3: Day 2 racing

Quest for Gold - OAAP released

The Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport has released the 2017-2018 Quest For Gold - Ontario Athlete Assistance Program.

Information has been posted on the Quest For Gold page (Selection Criteria). 

All required information must be submitted no later than Monday, February 5, 2018 to the OSSA Executive Director.

It is the sole responsibility of the athlete to provide a full and complete application that meets all stated requirements.

Team Ontario for Canadian Age Class LT

With the cancellation of the Provincial Long Track Championships due to weather, the OSSA Technical Committee has used the back-up selection criteria listed in the Long Track Technical bulletin.

Skater List for Team Ontario 2018

Skaters identified as primary team members and alternates will be contacted directly by the OSSA office.

The Canadian Age Class Long Track Championships will take place February 10-11, 2018 in Ste. Foy, Québec.

Cancellation - Provincial Long Track Championships

The Provincial Long Track Championships have now been cancelled because the warm weather has caused too much damage to the Brewer Oval in Ottawa. The ice will not be able to be repaired for Saturday or Sunday.

Information about Team Ontario nominations and the Ottawa Long Track camp will be posted as soon as possible.

Provincial Long Track - weather update

The weather system currently moving through Ontario has brought mild temperatures to the Ottawa area. Skaters who are registered for the Provincial Long Track Championships on January 13-14 are advised that there may be changes to the racing schedule. 

Any changes will be communicated as soon as possible.
