Atlantic Long Track Summer Camp

Long track skaters looking for development camps this summer might be interested in the Atlantic Long Track Summer Camp!

The camp will emphasize developing the technique, power, and speed for an explosive start. The camp’s program combines sessions on the SkateSim, a unique skating simulator designed to help athletes achieve increased acceleration, with strength sessions, sprinting sessions, and on ice technical training. Additional sessions include equipment set-up and maintenance, mental training, and sport nutrition. The residential nature of the camp provides an opportunity for skaters and coaches to develop team spirit and camaraderie.

A Great Weekend for Coaching

Twenty three coaches from 18 Ontario clubs gathered in Ottawa this past weekend to participate in the OSSA Coaching Symposium.

It was a full weekend of workshops that covered topics ranging from doping control procedures, mental training, athlete development, and program planning.

Special thanks to Marie-Pier Charest, Jonathan Guilmette, Rocky Lamontagne, Bryan McSorley, and Rita Wyczynski for their informative presentations.

All participants agreed this was a much needed opportunity for coaches to connect, discuss, and learn. This event was possible thanks to the support from OSSA, SSC, Coaching Association of Ontario, Quest for Gold, Coaching Association of Canada, and the Investor’s Group.

We have many members who travel outside of Canada for Speed Skating activities and we wanted to make sure you were all aware of the limits of our insurance coverage. Our sport insurance coverage for members of Ontario Speed Skating Association does not extend to you when participating outside of Canada’s borders.

If you are travelling to skate please ensure that you have personal travel insurance coverage.
