Registration for the 2022 Summit Performance Camp is now open!

Ontario Speed Skating is partnering with Speed Skating Alberta to host this 7-day camp at the Calgary Olympic Oval on August 8-14, 2022.

Skaters who have turned 13-19 before July 1, 2022 and meet the camp time standards are invited to register.

Short Track: Girls: sub 55 seconds 500m or sub 47 seconds 400m Boys: sub 51 seconds 500m or sub 43 seconds 400m

Long Track: Girls: sub 52 seconds Boys: sub 48 seconds

Skaters can choose to focus on short track or long track training. If there is interest, we also hope to offer a group that is a hybrid of both disciplines.

Short track groups will have 8 ice sessions over 5 days, with racing available through the AB HUB Racing Series #1 on Saturday morning.

Long Track groups will have 2 daily ice sessions over 5 days, and racing available through the AB HUB Time Trial on Saturday afternoon.

Off ice sessions will include dryland, strength, educational IST conferences and team building sessions. Sunday's program will focus on team building games in nearby Edworthy Park. Meetings for parents will include skater pathway sessions and an Oval Program information session.

Coaches from provinces and territories all across Canada will be attending, as well as Oval Program coaches. This camp environment is about mentorship and learning for both athletes and coaches.

We are looking forward to partnering with Speed Skating Alberta and bringing skaters and coaches from all provinces and territories to train and learn together.

The Early Bird camp fee is $300 until May 15, 2022. Camp fees increase to $350 on May 16, 2022.

Short track and/or long track racing can be added to your registration for $30 per discipline.

A strong focus of OSSA's 2021-2028 High Performance Plan is to support and develop Coaches across Ontario who can lead our High Performance skaters. Goals of the Ontario Development Hub Coaches Program include:

- Identify Coaches who will lead Ontario’s High Performance initiatives

- Develop Coaches who can support Clubs in their region

- Increase the number of highly qualified Coaches in Ontario

- Assist retiring athletes in making a transition into Coaching roles.

The document below outlines the Hub Coaches Program criteria.

Coaches who would like to apply for this program should email Elizabeth at hpdirector@ontariospeedskating.ca by Friday April 15, 2022. Please include a brief cover letter outlining how you meet the criteria for the Ontario Development Coaches Program and a brief resume of your relevant experience.

As we initiate the programming of OSSA's 2021-2028 High Performance Plan, we are pleased to announce the Ontario Development Hubs Program (ODHP) for 2022-2023.

As a part of the ODHP, OSSA is offering weekly on-ice training to Ontario's top skaters across the province, starting in May and running through August.

In order to benchmark our top ODHP skaters, OSSA is also hosting a Dryland Testing camp on the weekend of May 14-15, 2022 at the Pan Am Centre in Toronto. This camp will be hosted in collaboration with the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario and is guided by the Directors and Exercise Physiologists at the Canadian Sport Institute Calgary. The camp will offer testing protocols used by Canada's top speed skaters and will help us benchmark our athletes for future programming.

OSSA will be sending out invitation emails to the skaters eligible for the ODHP within the next week. Please see the document below for ODHP criteria and details.
